The tale of Barabas Subias, as chronicled in the Veridian Wars, is one deeply interwoven with faith, identity, and destiny. From his earliest days, Barabas has been shaped by the mercies and hardships of fate, a journey that began on a desolate northern road where he was found, abandoned, by Cleric Narius. Named after Sanctus Barabas, the patron of lost things, it seems fitting that his life would be anything but ordinary.



An Unlikely Beginning


Barabas’s origins are shrouded in mystery, with his only link to the past being a signaculum bearing the name ‘Subias’—a clue to a family he has never known. Despite the earnest efforts of the fraters to uncover his lineage, Barabas’s past remains veiled in secrecy. It was concluded by Frater Narius that the child was exposed—left to the mercy of the elements to perish. Such a tragic beginning would shape Barabas’s life and set him on a quest for belonging and purpose within the Duasan Faith.

Education and Faith


Barabas was educated at the Scholarium, a privilege afforded to those of means in Ballaria. His studies, however, were secondary to the teachings of the Duasan Faith, which captured his imagination and spirit. He immersed himself in the Holy Writ with a fervour that often led him to challenge his instructors at the Scholarium, interpreting the scriptures with a literalism that blinded him to broader perspectives. His dedication to the Faith is unwavering, yet this very dedication has also sown seeds of rigidity within his soul.
